Essential oils are all the rage right now, and rightfully so. They are an all natural approach to a plethora of different ailments, or for the therapeutic benefits. I’ve used essential oils for the past year to help with anxiety and while I am on medication for my anxiety, I do notice a difference when we diffuse certain blends at night or I apply the oils topically.
This past weekend I saw a friend on Facebook post about this Babies & Momma kit and stated that her son did indeed sleep a lot better and for a longer period of time than normal, so I decided to reach out to Amy Wolter, a friend and distributer, and ask for a kit. The kit was $110 and comes with a carrying case and a print out of the benefits of the oils and how to use them.
It’s been almost a week since using the oils and I’m pretty excited to say that yes, they indeed have made a difference! Since she’s still little, and not teething yet, we only use three of the 5 oils that are for babies. We use Sleepy Baby on the bottom of her feet and down her spine, Tiny Airways on her chest (she has her dads sinus’) and Tiny Tummies. She sometimes struggles with taking a poo poo so with getting adjusted by her Uncle Kirk at Wehrspan Chiropractic, and Tiny Tummies, she has been more regular and doesn’t strain as much to get it all out! The other two oils are Cool Baby for fevers and Tiny Teeth for teething.
Granted Kerr is only 6 weeks old, and a sleep schedule for her is about rare as a unicorn, but the past week there has been a noticeable difference in the length of sleep and the amount of time it takes her to get to sleep. This past night being the best sleep she’s had yet.
She got a bath at 830 pm and a bottle around 930. She was asleep in her crib by 1015 pm, slept till 2 till she wanted a bottle. ( I bottle feed her a night because she enjoys the boob too much and fiddles around ) After her bottle she was asleep by 230! I curled up onto the floor at the foot of her crib like I normally do when she falls asleep at night because I assumed she would wake up shortly, turns out I woke up at 4 and she slept on! I crawled into bed and then of course at 430 she woke up for a bottle and her and I moved to the living room and slept from 5-8. So yes, a weird schedule but compare this to her schedule before, huge difference. She would wake up around 1245 or 145 and 445 and it would take her almost an hour and half to get back to sleep compared to about 15 minutes now.
As for the Mommy oils, I’ve used all of them! There is Milk Mama, Mama Marks, Happy Mama, Calm Mama, and Tender Ta-Ta’s. Milk Mama you apply directly to your breasts, Mama Marks you put on your stretch marks (I was very lucky to not have any stretch marks the whole pregnancy until my milk came in…and now my boobs look like they’ve been attacked by a rabid cat). Happy Mama (for a mood boost) you put on pressure points, as well as Calm Mama (for anxiety), and Tender Ta-Ta’s, well, you apply to your lady lumps. As a personal testimony I vouch for the Milk Mama first and foremost. (This gets a little personal but I feel I have to get candid because I was actually pretty astounded). For the past few weeks my left as been producing almost 2 ounces more than my right, turns out Kerrigan prefers the left to the right resulting in more production. So I started applying Milk Mama only to my right breast and as of last night (Thursday, I started on Sunday) I was only about a half ounce less than my right. In the 20 minutes I pump at a given time of day I produce anywhere from 7-10 ounces total. This was so exciting (even if it was at 245 at night)
Now as for the Happy Mama and the Calm Mama it’s harder to see if there is a difference because oils like these can create a placebo effect. However, placebo effect or not, I do notice a slight boost in my mood when I take the Happy Mama. The Mama Marks oil is something that will take longer to show results.
These are my own personal results and I have not been told or paid to share these.
