A bit late getting to the blog but my friend Alissa Mayer’s emerald wedding is finally coming your way!
I had never done her make up before because I think she does her make up beautifully without my help! However I was flattered none the less, and it was so fun. Alissa has big beautiful eyes, a spectacular smile and killer cheek bones, so I was in heaven.
She forgot her make up bag at the church, (slight panic moment) but my foundation worked just fine for her, thankfully! We used the Revlon Color Stay foundation along with her primer she applied before hand. We were at the salon by 6:00 AM so I was a little nervous how well her make up would hold up through out the day. Our bridesmaids dresses were a stunning emerald green so I thought it would be fun to incorporate that color into her eyeshadow. I almost always stick with mauves and metallics when it comes to bridal but Alissa has an earthy feel to her and I didn’t think the “typical” bridal look would have suited her. I used Nylon by MAC for highlighting her brow bone and her inner corner of her eye, but besides that I kept her eyes matte with earthy tones and a touch of emerald green. We did an understated cat eye with natural faux lashes, (natural fake lashes sounds a little oxymoron to be honest) with a little shadow on her bottom lashline. We didn’t want to line her bottom lashes because her eyes already were popping and it could have been over powering. I used a combination of contour kits from Anastasia Beverly Hills and BH cosmetics. I applied the lightest powder under her eyes and around her T-Zone and the darker powders around the perimeter of her face to accentuate her features. I used the BECCA highlighter in Opal and highlighted her cheek bones which photographed so amazing. It was a cloudy winter day but Alissa was glowing. I finished off with a peachy blush and filled in her eyebrows a bit. She lost her lipstick that she was to wear that day, so I can’t give you what she used on her lips because I think it was a combination of a lot of borrowed lipsticks!
This is her and her new husband Joe! I seriously still can’t get over how amazing she looked. Special thanks to Old Soul Charm Photography for all the images she captured that day.
Here I am with the blushing bride. I was roughly two months post partum at her wedding and it was the longest stretch of time I had been away from Kerrigan. I was one of three new moms pumping throughout the day in our little room at the church. It was definitely interesting. Thank goodness our dresses were “boobie friendly” and wasn’t too much of a hassle to “whip them out” for lack of a better term.
Along with Alissa’s make up, I also did her maid of honor’s. Hilary, like Alissa, is so stinking pretty that she doesn’t need much. I kept it pretty simple and stuck with mauves and nudes. She had something going on with her eye that day so we opted to not use faux lashes but we lined her bottom lashes. I chose not to do a cat eye to keep it like I said earlier, simple and classic.
I can’t say enough about these two ladies. They have a bond that should be envied.
Thank you so much for letting me be apart of your big day and your happy ever after.
Thanks to Old Soul Charm for allowing me to use these images. They are stunning.
