I’m terrible at posting updates, having a baby really takes a toll on your “blog time”.
I have had some ladies ask me to do a make up application for them and these are the results below!
This is Haley, she doesn’t wear a lick of make up most days, and when she does it’s mostly eyeliner. So we kept it super natural and did a look that she can do that doesn’t require a lot of precision, meaning you can’t really mess it up because it looks smudged anyways.
This is Mckenzie, she had a contouring kit and wanted me to show her how to use it properly. I also did a simple look that she can do for school. But to amp up the look, we added a white liner in her water line on her lower lash line, and it really brightened up the whole look. It was so rewarding to watch her look in the mirror when I was finished and see her face light up. Every make up artist loves getting that response, it’s sort of a “high”.
I didn’t get a picture of the third lady that came to me, but I will be doing her make up in another month or so for a wedding so no worries, she will still be featured on here.
Another lady came to me to have make up done for a special event.
This is Brie, and we did an understated glam look, she doesn’t have lipstick on in this picture so the look wasn’t totally finished, but I still thought she looked like a million bucks.
Next we have some random looks that I’ve done lately…nothing special but something totally do able for a busy mom.
The cut crease was super fun to do. Here is an awesome tutorial on how to. She make’s it very simple to do. The first look was a bold liner with understated faux lashes and my new favorite palette “Cheekathon” by Benefit. You can use the bronzer “Hoola” for an eyeshadow, putting it on your brow bone and blending inwards in your crease, it makes your eyes pop with the perfect hint of a shadow. My lips are a combination of “Up The Amp” by MAC and a Covergirl lip stain that I’m unsure of the color.
I don’t post a “products I used” column anymore because I honestly use such a variety of products that it would take forever to list. However, I do have some staples.
BH Cosmetics contouring palette –I use the white and beige color with a damp Beauty Blender under my eyes and between my eyebrows/forehead (LOVE IT) it’s my version of “baking”
Too Faced Primed and Poreless loose powder This one is the pressed powder link (cannot find the loose powder)
Kat Von D tattoo liner in Trooper I put the link up for the whole site because honestly you need to get everything from her line, it is awesome
The past few months I have been really struggling with make up, on myself. I got defeated around Easter and just felt that I was in a rut and my make up wasn’t even going on my face very well. I chalk this up to laziness as well as my skin still going through some changes since having Kerrigan. It used to be super oily, now it is bone dry, dull. But slowly I’m getting back into it and I am happy with the outcome. I try not to be discouraged by what I see on Instagram. I don’t have the money to spend on the make up, let alone the equipment to create looks and pictures. So I do what I can. I never wanted this to be my occupation, and I have finally reached a happy medium of doing weddings and special events. I have enough bookings and enough free weekends that it doesn’t cause any conflict. Every time I learn something new, and I have yet to have an unsatisfied lady…knock on wood. Thanks as always for supporting me.
